Rebranding as Canadian Republican Network

Around Canada Day of this year (2025) our team made the decision to rebrand as the “Canadian Republican Network.”

Since founding the publication in the Fall of 2022, we have developed the political line of Canadian Republicanism to match the realities of our people in the era of the rising multipolar world of win-win international relations and the decline of the unipolar hegemony of American Imperialism.

Our publication was called Riel Republicans until June 2025.

The Honourable Louis Riel, Métis Revolutionary and Godfather of Manitoba, led two anti-colonial rebellions — Red River (1869) and North-West (1885) — that are a major source of inspiration for our geopolitical orientation in the current day.

The essence of the original name still holds an important place in our analysis — and we will still plan to publish longer pieces on the enduring legacy of these important historical events — with our focus on anti-imperialism and achieving popular sovereignty for the people of Canada.

However, we also understand that a direct citation of these rebellions in the previous name of the publication may lead readers to believe that our analysis is limited in space and time, to Manitoba in the latter 19th century, as opposed to being a comprehensive for all of Canada.

“Canadian Republican Network” is more reflective of the all-encompassing nature of the project for the country. The name change is a necessary step for clarity in our communication and the overall development of the project. This rebrand also presents the opportunity to draw from additional examples in the history of these lands while still taking tremendous inspiration from the Honourable Louis Riel and the original resistance state of Manitoba.

Canadian Republican Network will also integrating the body of work from the Canadian Red Tory Movement. More will be coming out in the near future about how the rational kernels from the tendency of Red Toryism can be integrated into developing the tendency of Canadian Republicanism.

This synthesis of the previous projects, representing continentalist currents within the country, shows how dedicated people are coming together to develop a strong line of popular sovereignty for Canada.
